The president of the Union of Black Episcopalians (UBE) is The Reverend Kim L. Coleman. Rev. Coleman. She has served in this role since 2019 while also has served as rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Arlington, Virginia since November 2002. An Episcopalian since 1993, Rev. Kim graduated cum laude from Virginia Theological Seminary in May 2001 and was ordained to the priesthood in December 2001. She has also served as an Adjunct Professor for VTS. Prior to entering the ordination track, Kim pursued a career in the association management and human resources.
She has served as Deputy to General Convention and on both Diocesan and Standing Committees. She has also served as National Secretary for the Union of Black Episcopalians as well as Co-Dean for 2017 UBE Annual Business Meeting and Conference in Cherry Hill, NJ.
What she stated in 2019 still rings true today, “What this means for UBE’s present and future? We are doing significant work, locally, nationally, and internationally. In the coming months I want to see us do more to let people know. It’s time to put to rest recurring questions about the relevance and necessity of UBE. That’s best done by sharing our story nd articulating our narrative in way that demonstrates why UBE is the ideal response to such a time as this.”
When something is happening ay a local, diocesan, or chapter level that involves UBE members and furthers UBE’s aims, please let us know. The Very Rev. Kim L. Coleman can be reached at kcoleman@theube.org
